It doesn't appear so, I think it might vary by country. If you look at this page from the US and open the image in a new tab: you can see that the security officer identified as a "major" is clearly wearing US major-style collar pips and in this one: and indian guard appear to wear indian army style stars (I found other pictures of guards without stars so I assume this is not just decoration). Then there's the fact that some country are pretty strict about security guards wearing anything that could make people confuse them with government employees so that they might not wear traditional insignias instead having their title simply written or simply who they work for such on this police support officer: On a related note, although legislation is slightly different from one province to the next, it usually involve not wearing police style insignia or uniform elements that would get you mistaken for a member of a municipal/provincial or federal police force. When I worked in the industry there, the difference between ranks, when indicate was usually in the form of different ties or having the rank spelled out on the shoulder slides (i.e. "SUPERVISOR"). In that sense then, G4S Canada doesn't use police type badge or a blue uniform but I feel they might be going against the spirit of it: ...
